about

We felt about as much pressure during our work on this release as we did on Genosha 1. It had been a while since we’d done a full-on 4-track TOA release, so it was time to show everyone how we do. My turbulent times were over and my crap Behringer speakers have been replaced with an awesome KRK monitor set. I am all business now. I decided to finish up two tracks I’d started in 2004 and 2005, respectively because my new monitors finally enabled me hear what the fuck was wrong with my mixes. We also set out to make these tracks as ‘mixable’ as possible for DJs. We felt we needed to. I guess you could almost say we sold out, were it not that there is a techno track on here and the shit’s generally just way too dark to be sell-out music. The title for this EP is one we’ve wanted use for a long time. We feel it accurately reflects our mindset.

Fun facts: Pure Darkness was considered for Enzyme X for the briefest of moments; Sithspawn kinda means the same thing as Frack; The New Master has a lame title, but also uses 43 different kickdrums and a triplet woodblock hit intended as a nod to an interview we did with a Scottish website; and The Smog Sin is an anagram of ‘somethings’, and so is The Omen Sights, for that matter.
